SERVICES

Pre & Post Care Instructions

  • Timing is everything. It is best to schedule injectable treatments at least two weeks before a big event. Neuromodulators require little to no downtime and many clients choose to have them done on their lunch break as they can be administered in as little as 10-15 minutes!

THINGS TO AVOID PRIOR TO TREATMENT:

Herbal supplements such as Ginko, green tea and anti-inflammatories of any kind for 1 week before and following treatment to limit bruising.

    CONSIDERATIONS WHEN SCHEDULING:

You will be asked to remain upright for the first 4-6 hours following your neurotoxin treatment. Do not schedule a facial treatment, chemical peel, massage or lash appointment during this time.

You will not be allowed to participate in vigorous exercise or straining for 4-6 hours following treatment (it takes approximately 2-3 hours for neurotoxin to bind to the nerve and you do not want to increase circulation during that time). Schedule your workout before.

Bruising in the area injected is normal although rarely occurs, especially if treated around the eyes. Bruising can last up to several days. Using/taking Arnica may help diminish bruising.

It may may take up to 2 weeks for the neurotoxin to take full effect.

A follow-up visit at 2 weeks may be suggested to assess the results of your treatment, especially if you are a first-time client. If the desired correction is not achieved you may consider the purchase of additional neurotoxin for injection.

Regular injections usually yield a longer lasting neurotoxin result.

If your upper lip was treated you may not be able to drink through a straw, whistle or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks.

If you have ANY questions or concerns regarding the above, please call our office during business hours.

  • Good candidates for dermal filler are in good overall health. You should not be taking any current antibiotics, immunosuppressants, or blood thinning medications for at least 2 weeks prior to the dermal filler treatment.

Any vaccination should be scheduled 2 weeks prior to or 2 weeks after the dermal filler procedure.

If you develop a cold sore, blemish, rash, etc, prior to your appointment you must reschedule. Let us know if you’re prone to cold sores-a prophylactic medication may help prevent cold sores after treatment.

If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance. Patients should not travel in the 48 hours following a dermal filler treatment in case of complications. Plan appointments accordingly.

THINGS TO AVOID PRIOR TO TREATMENT:

Avoid taking Aspirin, Motrin, Ginko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids ideally 2 weeks before dermal filler treatment and 3 days following the procedure.

Discontinue Retinols or any prescription strength face creams 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours prior to treatment in order to prevent thinning of the blood, which will lead to an increase in bruising and swelling after your procedure.

You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to your injection to reduce the risk of bruising.

Please try to come to your appointment with a clean, make-up-free face.

If you have ANY questions or concerns regarding the above, please call our office during business hours.

  • The Microneedling device is used to stimulate the tissue and improve the appearance of the skin. The procedure is performed in a safe and precise manner, utilizing a sterile micro-exfoliating component. The procedure is typically completed in 30 minutes. Treatment time may vary based on the required treatment and anatomic site being treated. This very safe and effective procedure may be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks without the pain of epidermal abrasion. At lower depths microneedling can also be used to treat acne scarring. Three to five treatment sessions are recommended.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT:

Avoid extreme sun exposure for one month prior and post treatment.

Avoid Retinol products and glycolic acid products for 1 week prior to treatment.

Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores. Your provider will pre-treat you with an anti-viral medication to prevent any outbreaks.

Is is preferred that you arrive for your appointment clean-faced without makeup, moisturizer, or lotions on the day of the treatment.

Notify your provider if you have any history of keloid scarring, metal or skin allergies, or if you have been on Accutane within the past 6 months.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT:

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be red and flushed with an appearance similar to a moderate sunburn. You may experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch to the area being treated. The redness will diminish greatly after a few hours following the treatment and within 24 hours the skin will be generally calmed.

If you have treatment around your eyes, you may experience micro-bruising lasting for 3-4 days. This can be covered with make-up.

Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as: Ibuprofen, Motrin and Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for skin rejuvenation.

Do not exercise for 24-48 hours post procedure to minimize the risk of blistering.

Within the 2 days following your Microneedling procedure you will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this time we recommend that you apply a hydrating moisturizer.

    POST CARE:

Cleanse with a mild soap daily.

    Gently pat dry.

If your skin feels dry or tight, apply a gentle moisturizer.

Avoid partaking in activities that will heat up your skin, such as going in a hot tub/jacuzzi/sauna, taking a very hot shower, or strentuous exercise for 2 days after treatment.

Avoid scrubbing, rubbing or using exfoliants for 1 week.

Apply sunscreen daily (UVA and UVB with SPF 30) and you can use makeup if needed starting the day after treatment.

Avoid smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, excessive exercise, sweating, swimming, or exposing skin to heat and sun for 1 week after your treatment.
